Kuala Lumpur – Part 1: Selamat Datang!

WARNING~ Image-heavy post mmkay?

January 22, 2012 / Selamat Datang = Welcome!

This happens to be my first time out of the country (my family believes that we should turn all places in the Philippines upside-down before we step out and discover other countries) thanks to my Irish aunt :) In exchange, I arranged everything for her – plane tickets, hotel reservation, tour – including studying about the place so I can answer whatever her questions are.

Do enjoy my photodiary of the vacay…

The “What I Wore” pic. Limits for the luggage not the imagination… Our plane (Cebu Pacific, hello cheap flights) landed at Kuala Lumpur Low Cost Carrier Terminal (KLLCCT) and at first I was like “WTF this is airport or shipyard?” All that fuzz in my mind cleared when we entered the lobby or whatever you call that shiny-floor area bathed in beauty-enhancing yellow light.

Why don’t airport taxis in the PH have this too? Manong driver looks so kakkoi with this lah!

I just love taking photos of street signs. In KL, I noticed they don’t have a lot of billboards of commercial items. Probably why they have a postcard-perfect skyline.

Nyee toll fee for Mr. Taxi Taxi Taxi… And, if you see IT you’ll shit brixxx! Very interesting how plenty Malay words have the same meaning/idea in Tagalog with just a little difference in spelling. I was even surprised at the TOLAK sign at 7-11’s doors. There you go Philippine history, proves the Tulay na Lupa theory and the ancient bartering through the balangay. *do correct me if I’ve mixed up some things, history is not my best subject*

This much vehicles on the road near our hotel even at 2am!

Having fun with my remote at the front desk. We stayed at Hotel Equatorial right along Jalan Sultan Ismail, KLCC which is just a few minutes walk from the hip and hot Bukit Bintang area. The number of Filipinos in KL also surprised me. Case in point, Haidee at the front desk is a Filipina.

After all the posts about my day to day in KL, I’ll write a trip tip about KL – where to stay and shop, and how much you’ll need :)

My room. Awesome sauce yeah? Got this 5 star baby cheap through Agoda.com! A queen size bed just for me. Makes me wish there was someone warm to cuddle with *ahem* Looking at that bed, my day ends… Do read the sequel to this please :) There’ll be loads of photos…

zzzz
